Who Can Receive Household Support?
Household support is intended for people who have difficulty carrying out household tasks due to personal circumstances.
Whether you qualify for household support is assessed by the municipality. They will consider your personal circumstances, what you are still able to do yourself, and what assistance may already be available through family members or your support network.
You may need support if you:
- have less strength or energy due to ageing.
- have a physical disability.
- have difficulty bending, lifting, or standing for extended periods.
- have a chronic illness or long-term medical condition.
- are recovering from surgery or a prolonged illness.
- cannot receive all the help you need from your partner, family, or informal caregiver.

How Do You Apply for Household Support?
Household support is generally requested through the Social Support Act (Wmo). You can contact the Municipality of Zaanstad, where your personal situation will be discussed and your eligibility for support will be assessed.
